Cosmetology students get experience, clients get a deal

Clearwater, Florida - The tough economy has many of us cutting back on things that may seem like a splurge like a hair cut, manicure, pedicure or facial. These can get expensive, from 15 to 100 dollars a cut, manicures and pedicures around $50 and facials even higher.

Watch video here.

Despite the economy, getting pampered may still be affordable if you use cosmetology students instead of the pros.

"I can afford it and it looks good," says 23-year-old Angela Beaulieu. She lost her job earlier this year. Her trips to the salon went from every three weeks to every three months.

"I'm broke, I have no money," says Angela. That's until she heard about the deals at pTEC's cosmetology school half off its already low prices for July. Angela is getting a pedicure, manicure, eyebrow waxing and hair cut, all for $13.

"You can't beat it. It's affordable. Even with the economy being as bad as it is, I can find a few bucks here and there to get it done and make me feel better," says Angela.

26-year-old Jamie O'Dell is giving Angela a manicure and pedicure.

"It's what we love doing ultimately we'll do a good job."

Some students are starting a second career. There's 40-year-old Shelly Brown, a college grad who left the restaurant business. She's been working full time at night and going to school during the day for the last year.

Shelly graduates on Thursday, "It's a matter of choice and discipline and wanting to do better for yourself."

  •        a graduate who has achieved success in the beauty industry

  •        an instructor who has reaped the rewards of guiding students to a rewarding career

  •        salon and spa owners who have hired our graduates

  •        prospective students and your dreams and pursuit of a new career

  •        school clientele

i was in this past week and all three of my daughters experienced their first salon hair cut (in the past i cut their hair)..

The stylist, marie, was the student who worked on my daughter lindsey. she took the picture.

My daughters enjoyed the pampering experience and professional services of new england esthetics school. they were treated with kindness and respect from all the staff and students. all three girls loved the haircut, felt the students were nice and did a great job. it was a positive experience and they felt comfortable being in a salon for their first time getting their hair cut. thank you for the hair cuts and making the experience joyful for a parent of three!

thank you,
kelly and three

THE REWARDS OF SHADOWING!

Have you ever thought about spending an hour or more at New England Center for Cosmetology Education and Esthetics Education "shadowing" the program in which you are interested? The program that could provide the path to your financial independence and a rewarding career in the beauty industry?

Shadowing allows you to actually see what our students and educators are doing both in their classroom and clinic activities, giving you the information you need to make this important life-altering decision.

We'd like to share with you an excerpt from an email sent to our Admissions office from a recently enrolled student who took advantage of "shadowing":

"Thank you for the wonderful interview yesterday and for explaining the esthetics program to me in such detail. I really appreciate the time you spent with me and for setting up my shadowing with the esthetics clinic. I was very impressed and loved the instructor. Can you please give me her full name as I'd like to send her a thank you note for answering my questions and for making me feel so welcomed. Her students were terrific too and very helpful to me. I can't wait to join the April class."
Esthetics Student "ML"

We'd be delighted to set up a shadow date for you too.
